Rocking the Pony

The first of many mama-daughter hair fixing sessions.

Need Amusement? Find a Tiny Puddle.

Joy comes in small packages when you're a child... we live next to the only puddle on our street and it has been a source of endless amusement over the months. Every time it rains the boys decide how exactly they want to empty that puddle, be it running through, riding bikes through, pushing mowers through, etc. The possibilities are endless!!

Howie speeding through
Wren watches and takes notes for later
Another good way to play is throwing stuff into the puddle

P.S.- For a quick potty training update... I'd say we're about 75% of the way there.  A lot of Skittles, M&M's, and tooth decay later.

Character Building

Our character is being built as we roast in our house with no AC. We have 2 window units but they definitely don't cool the whole house, so I choose not to use them. I would rather just be hot than stand in front of the window unit and be cool but then roast everywhere else in the house. This takes me back to my childhood- my parents actually had central air but barely ever used it except in EXTREME circumstances.... now they turn it on so their cat won't get hot. Go figure.  (Love ya Mom and Dad!)  So it's looking like we may hit 88-90 on the thermostat today... we're all rocking the sweaty bomb look.  Love it.

Howie Graduates Preschool

September 2011
June 2012

Howie with his awesome teachers, Mrs Allen and Mrs Piazza.   Howie grew and matured so much under their care.
Proud mama and daddy.

Sticking With Bron

After "The Decision" I tried to quit liking him. What an arrogant, self-aggrandizing display of ridiculous pompous ego.  But reason with myself as I may, I can't quit liking him.  He's just too good.  I'm pulling for him in the finals.  I tried cheering against him last year vs. the Mavericks, but it just didn't feel right in my heart.  I'm a LeBron fan, and I always will be.

That's right.  Justice is potty training.  Hopefully good news to follow.

The Desches Hit the Jersey Shore

That's right... we have officially been to the Jersey Shore now.  We went this past weekend with our growth group from church and had a BLAST!!!  Here are some observations.

1.  Didn't see Snookie or any of her friends, but we did see a few other people who looked like they could be on Jersey Shore.  Particularly a guy with swim trunks that were just wayyyy too short and showed wayyyy too much of his leg who said Wren was the cutest baby he had ever seen and he wanted to bite her face.  Thanks?
2.  The ocean was awesome.
3.  We reached the shore in a little over an hour.  Definitely will be repeating.
4.  You have to pay to go on the beach.  And it's not a couple bucks or something.  It cost $18 for me and Josh!!!  Maybe that's common but I've never experienced having to budget a beach day.
5.  Wren was NOT a fan of the ocean.  Way too cold and freaky.
6.  It was such a good beach day because we had some sun but much of the day was cloudy.  It was great to have the cool breeze and not have the sun beating down on you.  I'm not much of a sun worshiper.
7.  The boys have matching McQueen swim trunks.  Please observe.

Visit from Nana and BB

Nana and BB came to New Jersey for a visit a couple of weeks ago and we had a fabulous time.  It was SO much fun to be together.  Hope they can come back again ASAP!!

Much of this happened.
Wren hanging out with Nana
Nana and Justy display their collaborative effort
puzzle time
Nana feeds Wren at Smashburger, our regular joint.  They know us there.  And probably shudder when we bring our circus in.
Howie and BB: Howie can never get enough.
BB and Josh went after a wasp's nest that had been built on our garage.  They were ready for swarms of angry wasps descending on them, but it was actually extremely anti-climactic.  For any of you Hunger Games readers, definitely made me think of the tracker jackers.
Richard Scarry, we love you
This is a school that is about a 5 minute walk from our house.
BB pushes Justy in the backyard.
We always play Pass the Pigs with Nana and BB... here I think it was Josh who threw the pigs into a configuration that required BB to go in the booth and watch the instant replay to make sure the call was right.  The ruling on the field stood.  Josh lost all his points.
Nana fed Wren faithfully.
Wren hard at play... also here you can see our new couch.  It's gargantuan and  absurdly comfortable.

A Man of the Word

Here you can witness Justice singing with gusto about the book for him.  The B-O-B-O-B.  And for any of you Covenant College peeps out there, please take notice of Josh's vintage Carter Hall shirt.

This Is How Much He Loves Richard Scarry

By the way I just discovered that there is a Blogger app.  My entire blogging world has just changed. For the better.

Really, Mama?

Mama, what is this thing possibly good for?  Did you really put me in this? Seriously?

Visual Delights

Daddy, can I help you feed Wren?
Swinging!!!  Wheeeeee!!!  This is the funnest thing EVER!!!
Desches. Hanging out.
Look at this guy!  Too cool for school!
Howie enlightens Wren on the subject of prayer.
How adorable is this?  Howie is playing soccer!!
On a recent trip to Central Park.  It's so easy to get a pic of everyone looking good, right?
POOL TIME!!!  Last week Teaneck got an early heat wave... our house has no central air and the thermostat inside read 88-89!!  Woooo!  It was hot!  The freezing cold hose water actually felt good to everyone but Wren, who could not see the fun in it.  Although you can't tell in this pic she was actually screaming.
Daddy and Girly
Look at those baby blues!!  Be still my heart!
This was another pool day after we figured out Wren is more of a poolside lounger than a swimmer.  For now.
Girl meets BBQ chicken wing.  It's an instant obsession.  You go girl.
Howie's preschool class hosted a mother's day tea for all of the mamas!  It was special!
Going right for the good stuff... who needs lame baby food when good bagels abound??
